Energy for Life
Energy for life walkathon is a walkathon to fight mitochondrial disease. The main goal is to promote research and education for the diagnosis, treatment, and cure of mitochondrial disorders and to provide support to affected individuals and families. Mitochondrial disease is when the mitochondria are unable to completely burn food and oxygen to generate energy, which is essential for normal cell function. This results in poor growth, developmental delays, and muscle weakness, which can last a lifetime. Someone In my life has been affected by this personally. Enzo Cascardo is someone that has been in my life for years and is directly affected by this. Being able to contribute toward something that helps him means a lot to me personally. We were not able to participate in a big event this year due to covid, so we hosted our own! We walked with close friends and family working to raise money!

Extracurriculars
Throughout my high school carrer, I have always been involved and active. I have been on the varsity pom team since freshman year and have been pomming since 7th grade! I was also awarded captain position my senior year which has taught me leadership and responsibility. Going along with my interest of leadership, I have also been in Student council and Key club all four years. I have volunteered in both organizations countless times which is something that is irreplaceable.
Aqua-Tots Swim School
During my junior year and into my senior year, I picked up a part-time job. Following my interests, I got a job at Aqua-Tots swim school where I taught special needs children how to swim. This was an amazing experience that I had and taught so much. I learned how to discipline and teach children. This job made me realize that I want to help children for the rest of my life and ultimately helped me determine my major.
